L’Oréal Group has long been commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for all, including the LGBTQIA+ community. Read on to learn more about recent initiatives by our brands and our local teams.
Pride and advocacy across countries
At a local level, the Group supports many practical projects that aim to raise awareness among employees and to promote equality in the workplace. During Pride Month, our local teams are proud to celebrate these commitments.
For the first time, L’Oréal Brazil was the official sponsor of the exclusive area for VIP guests at the São Paulo Pride Parade, the largest LGBTQIA+ Pride Parade in the world with 3.5 million people gathered on São Paulo's main avenue. During the event, this unique area received 550 guests who were able to see up close the activations of 4 brands of the Group that were taken to the lounge. All guests wore an exclusive t-shirt that not only carried the L’Oréal Brazil logo, but also the logo of all the Group’s brands that participated in the activation.
L’Oreal USA celebrated Pride 2022
, activating a month-long campaign in collaboration with members and allies of
’Oréal, the employee-led LGBTQIA+ think tank, in celebration of self-expression and the freedom to be yourself—to be out, proud and supported in every space. This year marked New York City’s return to in-person Pride events after two years of virtual celebrations.
On Sunday, June 26, hundreds of L’Oréal USA employees, led by
’Oréal in partnership with the charity organization God’s Love We Deliver, took to the streets of downtown Manhattan for the annual NYC Pride March, and marched, danced, and demonstrated their L'Oréal pride together through a crowd of thousands.

For this year's Pride Month, L’Oréal Paris is highlighting LGBTQIA+ people, including employees and friends of the brand so they can express themselves and tell their stories using
. Through this campaign, L’Oréal Paris is helping to make sure that these important points of view are heard far and wide.
L’Oréal Professionnel Paris
In June 2022, L’Oréal Professionnel Paris is giving the stage to six professionals from around the world who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. In a 30-second video, each person talks about what pride means to them and answers questions about their pride within the hairstylist community.
In 2021, Viktor&Rolf launched a long-term partnership with GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ+ media advocacy organization, to accelerate LGBTQIA+ inclusion and acceptance. In 2022, with #DefineVisibility, Viktor&Rolf x GLAAD shed light on inspiring voices that talk about the importance of being visible and how we can work to have more visibility. Through this partnership, Viktor&Rolf hopes to amplify the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community, raise awareness, and contribute to positive change.
In 2020, as part of its commitment to fight LGBTQIA+ discrimination, NYX Professional Makeup launched its brand cause, Proud Allies for All, in partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center. During the month of June 2022, NYX invites its customers to show their support by making an add-on donation of $1, $5 or $10 at checkout (only on the NYX Professional Makeup website). In France, NYX has teamed up with
MAG Jeunes LGBT+
to set up a program to provide training and raise public awareness about LGBTQIA+ topics.
In June 2022, Redken launched its new brand cause, Hairdressers United: Stand Together Against Bullying. The brand aims to inspire its community of over one million salon professionals to share the how their lives improved when they found a home and safe space in hairdressing. In partnership with the It Gets Better Project, a nonprofit organization on a mission to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQIA+ youth around the world, Redken will celebrate the salon industry as a safe space for all.
Kérastase celebrates Pride Month
by donating 100% of profits from the Pride Limited Edition of its best-selling Elixir Ultime hair oil to local charities supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. The proceeds will go to one organization in each country participating in the campaign, with an estimated total of over €200,000 being donated around the world.
Official sponsor of the New York Pride March since 2010, Kiehl’s is continuing its philanthropic partnership with The Trevor Project, the world's largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQIA+ young people. Kiehl’s is committed to donating a guaranteed minimum of $150,000 in 2022 to help provide free, confidential, and life-saving crisis counseling services to over 1,500 LGBTQ youth. Part of the donation will come from the sale of Kiehl’s Limited Edition PRIDE Ultra Facial Cream.
Promoting the rights of LGBTQIA+ people
L’Oréal has been one of the sponsors of the LGBTI Standards of Conduct for Business established by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights since 2018. These standards are designed to guide the business community in fighting discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people. They are designed to foster overall social change via five key actions:
Respect Human Rights of LGBTQIA+ workers, customers, and community members;
Eliminate discrimination against LGBTQIA+ employees in the workplace;
Support LGBTI staff at work by fostering a positive environment;
Do not discriminate against LGBTQIA+ suppliers, distributors, or customers, and insist that business partners do the same;
Stand up for human rights of LGBTQIA+ people in the communities where they do business.
L’Oréal is part of the

, which brings together international companies that are committed to promoting the rights of LGBTQIA+ people all over the world.

DE&I Global Advisory Board
in January 2021, comprising 12 outside experts and six L’Oréal senior executives including our CEO. L’Oréal’s engagement on these topics was recognized on multiple occasions in 2021, including when the Group was featured in the Refinitiv Diversity & Inclusion Top 100 for the sixth consecutive year and listed fourth in the
Equileap Global Gender Equality ranking
